ONE of the world’s leading premium beers, Singha Beer, was launched at Castaway Island Resort yesterday.
Resort general manager Steven Andrews explained why the Thailand brew was launched at the iconic Mamanuca property.
“I know many are wondering what is the relationship between Castaway Island Resort, Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort and Singha Beer,” he said, while speaking to about 50 guests who witnessed the beachside launch.
“There is rhyme and reason for this relationship.
“In June 2018, six properties of the Outrigger Enterprises Group in the Asia Pacific region were acquired by Singha Estate.
“They are the property arm under Boon Rawd Brewery — the owners and makers of Singha Beer.
“Both Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort and Castaway Island Resort are appreciative to Victoria Wines who saw it fit to partner with Boon Rawd Brewery to introduce and launch Singha Beer in Fiji.
“This only reiterates the fact that Singha Estate is fully committed to their investments here in Fiji.”
Victoria Wines director Kate Vusoniwailala said her company was proud to launch a world-renowned brand in the country.
“We are thrilled to launch this beer in Fiji at Castaway Island Resort,” she said.
“Tourism is Fiji’s main industry.
We have a beautiful destination, outstanding people and it is really important that we provide a level of excellence in regards to food and beverage also.
“This premium product will add to the choice and quality of what
is available to our visitors and our community in general.”
Singha Beer is brewed in Thailand by the Singha Corporation, a subsidiary of Boon Rawd Brewery.
Production began 85 years ago in 1934.
A royal warrant was bestowed on Singha Beer on October 25, 1939, illustrating the high quality of the product.
Boon Rawd is the only brewery permitted to display the royal Garuda.
Singha — the image on the beer label — is a powerful mythological lion found in ancient Thai mythology.
